Career
Ben Slayton, a 53-year veteran of the mortgage industry who has built several mortgage and mortgage-related companies, was asked to lead the Legacy Division as President to help pioneer it at a national level. Slayton is the first Black REALTOR® in the U.S., the first Black owner/broker of a CENTURY 21 franchise, the first Freddie Mac Multifamily Program Plus Seller/Servicer in the U.S., and he’s also a member of the Alterra Group, LLC Board of Directors.
He is the president of Legacy Home Loans, a new division established to help increase the homeownership rate of African American throughout the United States. He is also the publisher of Mortgage Compliance Magazine, a publication 100% focused and dedicated to the mortgage industry’s In-house Legal Counsels, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Loan Servicing Compliance Professionals.
And, Mortgage Women Magazine a publication dedicated to the empowerment and advancement of women in the mortgage industry. In his past he was the co-founder of Quality Control Management Assurance Corporation (QC-MAC) and the Managing Director of Western Bank. He was also the first African American Realtor in the United States.
Education
Ben is an Alumni of UCLA. He graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business/Corporate Communications.
